Why volunteer at Rancho?
Rancho is a highly specialized hospital treating patients
with severe physical disabilities from both the public and private sector.
Rancho is a leader in patient care and research. It is ranked in the top 10
among rehabilitation medical centers in the nation by U.S. News and World
Report. As a volunteer, you will become an important member of this team.
Who are Rancho's volunteers?
Rancho volunteers are men, women, and teenagers that
offer their services for a variety of reasons, such as: working with a team to
help others, to learn new skills, explore health careers, gain experience for
school credit, contribute valuable training and experience, etc.
Do I have what it takes?
Interested individuals must be at least 14 years of age,
in good health, dependable and have a strong desire to serve others. These
qualities plus a cheerful attitude, sensitivity towards others, and a
willingness to learn and grow are inherent to volunteerism.
What might I do as a volunteer?
Rancho volunteers offer their skills in patient-related,
research or clerical positions in many areas. For example,
- Occupational Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Speech Pathology
- Escort Services
- Recreation Therapy
- Pediatrics
- Nursing
- Hospital School
- Health Sciences Library
- Pharmacy
- Thrift Shop
Assignments are made to meet your interests as well as
the needs of the medical center. Morning, afternoon or evening hours and
weekdays or weekends may be requested to meet your scheduling needs.
