Michael D. Scott, M.D.
Dr. Scott is Chair of Rancho's Department of Neurorehabilitation and Medical Director of the
Spinal Cord Injury System of Care. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology
from Stanford University, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Charles R. Drew
University of Medicine and Science/University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He completed
his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at MetroHealth Medical
Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where he also served as chief
resident. He joined the medical staff at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in
1993.
Dr. Scott is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Division of PM&R at UCLA and also
Loma Linda University. He has published a number of scientific articles, made numerous
scientific presentations, and has served as co-investigator of several clinical trials related
to spinal cord injury. A Diplomate of the American Board of PM&R, Dr. Scott is also board
certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine.
Dr. Scott is a graduate of the
California HealthCare Foundation Health Care Leadership Program - a part time, two-year
fellowship that offers clinically trained health care professionals the experiences,
competencies, and skills necessary for effective vision and leadership of our health care
system. He is a member of the executive leadership team at Rancho and has held numerous leadership
positions including a recent term as Chief of Staff. In 2011, he was named among the Nation's Best
Doctors by U.S. News & World Report.
