Rancho Los Amigos Foundation
The Rancho Los Amigos Foundation is a nonprofit
501(c) (3) charitable organization that supports Rancho Los
Amigos National Rehabilitation Center
by raising funds that provide needed services and equipment for the
world-renowned rehabilitation facility and its patients with disabling
illnesses and injuries.
Working with donors large and small, the Foundation for two decades has helped provide critical funding for many of Rancho’s key programs and services. This has included special computerized devices to help patients “speak”, an accessible playground for children with disabilities, imaging equipment, accessible vans and many other types of equipment.
In addition, the Foundation supports major patient activities such as The Art of Rancho, Performing Arts of Rancho and Spinal Injury Games. The Foundation also works closely with the Los Amigos Research and Education Institute (LAREI) to support Rancho’s research and education efforts, which have been consistently recognized as among the best in the world.
ANNUAL EVENTS
The Foundation conducts two major events each year, the Amistad Gala in the Spring and the Rancho Golf Classic golf tournament in the summer. The Amistad Gala honors individuals, corporations, and community organizations for their accomplishments in support of Rancho.
The Foundation assists Rancho in its goal to help each patient build a personal bridge to independence. Since Rancho’s patients have the highest level of illness and/or injury of any hospital in the United States, it often takes much special care to help a patient reach their goal.
THE AMIGOS FUND
The Amigos Fund is a vital and highly impactful part of the Foundation’s activities that support patient needs at the hospital. The Amigos Fund provides money for physical, social and recreational services that play a key role in Rancho’s rehabilitation process. The Amigos Fund also sponsors the Rancho Flower Cart and the Rancho Thrift Store.
LAS FLORISTAS
Las Floristas has contributed more than $7 million over the last four decades to fund many Rancho programs, always concentrating on the special needs of Rancho’s children. These include the Kenneth and Harlyne Norris Center for Applied Rehabilitation Technology and Rancho’s nationally recognized wheelchair sports program, and the Las Floristas scholarship program, and many other programs and services.
