Leadership Appointments

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected President of the Occupational Therapy Association of California (2007-2010).

Aries Limbaga, R.N. was appointed President of the Los Angeles & Orange County Chapter of Rehabilitation Nurses for 2006-2007. The LA/OC chapter is one of the largest rehab nursing chapters in the nation. Our mission is to promote and advance professional rehabilitation nursing practice through education, advocacy, research to enhance the quality of life for those affected by disability or chronic illness.

Dr. Henry Gong, Chair of the Department of Medicine, was recently invited by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to serve on its Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee (CASAC) Nitrogen Oxides and Sulfur Oxides Review Panel. Dr. Gong is completing his service on the CASAC Ozone Review Panel. These CASAC activities consists of national scientists who review current scientific data about the health effects or air pollution and make recommendations to the EPA Administrator. Dr. Gong is an established and well known environmental health effects scientist.

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected Chair of the Los Angeles Occupational Therapy Leadership Forum for 2007-2008.

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected as the Los Angeles Regional Director to the Occupational Therapy Association of California (2006-2009).

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected the California Representative Alternate to the Representative Assembly for the American Occupational Therapy Association (2006-2009).

James A. Pasino, Ph.D. was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Behavior.

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected Vice-Chair of the Los Angeles Occupational Therapy Leadership Forum for 2006-2007.

Kelley Kubota, PT, MS, NCS was elected Chief Assembly Representative of the California Physical Therapy Association, Long Beach - South Bay District (2006).

Monica Egbuonu, PT was appointed to the selection committee of the Princeton Prize in Race Relations to promote the Princeton Prize and solicit applicants in the Los Angeles area, review applications, assist in the selection process and recognition ceremony (2005-2006).

Shawn Phipps, MS, OTR/L was elected to the Board of Directors of the Occupational Therapy Association of California from 2002-2006.

David Watson, Ph.D. was elected President of the Rancho Professional Staff Association. He is the first psychologist to hold this position.

Michal Atkins, MA, OTR is an Honorary Clinical Faculty at the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy at University of Southern California (USC).

Eugene Schmidt, DDS, FAGD, FACD was inducted as Fellow of The American College of Dentistry. The American College of Dentistry recognizes dentist who have demonstrated leadership, service and excellence in Dentistry (October 2005).

Monica Egbuonu, PT was appointed to the Princeton University Alumni Council on Community Service to promote and enhance community service programs sponsored by university affiliated organizations across the nation (2005).
