Victor Passy, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Passy is Chief of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA), he earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (Sigma Delta Sigma) from the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the California College of Medicine (UCI College of Medicine). He completed residencies at the Los Angeles County Medical Center in otolaryngology, eye, ear, nose & throat, and general surgery, where he also served as supervising resident. He joined the medical staff at Rancho in 1967.
Dr. Passy is now Professor Emeritus in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at the UCI College of Medicine. He received the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 2005 for his contributions to otolaryngology (e.g., development of the Passy-Muir Tracheostomy Speaking Valve, development of the ENT program at UCI, etc.). He was also awarded the "Golden Apple Award" by CCM (an undergraduate pre-med organization at UCI) in 1981, "Outstanding Teacher" by Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center and White Memorial Hospital ENT Residents in 1979, "Outstanding Teacher by UCI in 1978, elected into the AOA (Alpha Omega Alpha) Honorary Fraternity in 1976, President UCI Alumni in 1980 and UCI Alumni Physician of the Year in 1981.
Dr. Passy has published a number of scientific articles, made numerous scientific presentations, and has served as investigator of several clinical trials related to the treatment of deformities and diseases of the ear, nose and throat. He is board certified in Otolaryngology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology, American Council of Otolaryngology, fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Society of University Otolaryngologists, American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, American Medical Association, Pan American Association of ENT, Pan Pacific Surgical Association, Centurion Deafness Research Club of the Deafness Research Foundation, California Medical Association, Los Angeles County Medical Association, Associated Alumni of the California College of Medicine; Public Health League of California, Cal PAC, UCI Faculty Club, Los Angeles Society of Otolaryngologists, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Pacific Coast Oto-Ophthalmological Society, Orange County Medical Association, UCI Teaching Colloquy, Orange County Society of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, and medical advisor of the Parkinson's & Movement Disorder Society.
