Daniel Y. Shin, M.D.
Dr. Shin is Director of the Neuromuscular Diagnostics Laboratory at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Catholic University School of Medicine in Seoul, Korea and completed the Master of Public Health Program at Boston University. He completed his residency in Rehabilitation Medicine at New England Medical Center Hospitals of Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. He joined the medical staff at Rancho Los Amigos in 1989 on the Adult Brain Injury Service.
Dr. Shin holds several academic appointments including: Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA, Associate Clinical Professor of Osteopathic Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences, and Clinical Associate Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He has published a number of scientific articles, made numerous scientific presentations, and has contributed to several book chapters. His research interests are in cerebral spasticity, phenol neurolysis, hypertonicity, electrodiagnostics, compressive neuropathies, evoked potentials, traumatic brain injury, stroke, Piriformis Muscle Syndrome, etc.
Dr. Shin is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Academic Physiatrist, the American Associate of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Paraplegia Society, Massachusetts Medical Society, New England Society of Physician Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Southern California Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
