Arthritis and Rheumatology

This Center of Excellence is a combined medical and surgical program that provides comprehensive medical care to patients with severe inflammatory joint disease including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus and other connective tissue diseases. Care is also provided to individuals who are deemed candidates for joint replacement, and those who develop foot and hand deformities. The program provides thorough evaluation diagnosis, medical and surgical treatment and interdisciplinary management.

The continuum of care includes evaluations, medications, reconstructive joint surgery and rehabilitation. Following surgery, the patient is placed on an extensive rehabilitation program consisting of gait training and muscle strengthening exercises to achieve the maximal level of function
